About Me

I’m an entrepreneur, CEO, and hacker—though my approach to programming and software engineering is less conventional than most formal education paths. I’m passionate about the Internet, Linux, and Free/Open Software. From developing early telnet/telnetd applications and CD-ROM drivers for Linux, to pioneering what we now call Voice over IP, and creating one of the first Internet payment systems, I’ve contributed to many technologies that are now standard in today’s web and Internet landscape. Currently, as a Senior Technology Engineer, I’m still deeply engaged in advancing online and web technologies.

Lately, I’ve been deeply involved in hands-on not-for-profit work. I earned certification as a Search & Rescue responder in New Mexico and trained rigorously to handle the physical demands of working in deserts and mountains. I also completed my GED (a bit of a saga) and returned to college to obtain diplomas as an Emergency Medical Technician and Advanced Emergency Medical Technician. Yes, this seasoned war horse has ridden on fire trucks, worked in ambulances, and done night shifts in emergency rooms. However, I’m not switching careers; my focus remains solely on offering aid and support within the charitable sector.

Here’s a short overview about my (professional) life so far:

– University of applied sciences, Fulda
– Founder, Free Software Association of Germany
– Guest lecturer University of Marburg
– Lead developer Comp2Comp (working for Siemens, Hewlett Packard, IBM, Sun)

– CEO Polepositioner AG, Zurich, Switzerland
– Managing Director, Hermetos GmbH, Eisenach, Deutschland

– CTO Steyla Technologies Inc.

Current:
